
A biological research center, Institut Pasteur is private non-profit foundation, recognized as a public interest organization. Some 2,600 people work at its campus in Paris, with 146 research laboratories.
In parallel to its life-science research, a major part of Institut Pasteur's work is dedicated to the study of infectious diseases, genetic and neuro-degenerative diseases and certain types of cancer.
Institut Pasteur is at the center of an international network that is comprised of 32 institutes on all 5 continents, representing a total of 9,500 people.
